Allah, the Almighty, said to Dawood (peace be upon him):

"O Dawood! Give glad tidings to the sinners and warn the righteous." He (Dawood) asked: "How should I give glad tidings to the sinners and warn the righteous?" He (the Almighty) said: "O Dawood! Give glad tidings to the sinners that I accept repentance and forgive sins, and warn the righteous not to be proud of their deeds, for no servant whom I bring to account will be saved except that they perish."
