(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Throughout history, there have been many from other faiths who have expressed their love for the Household of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
In the contemporary era, too, many prominent figures have stressed their devotion to the Infallible (AS).
Preeminent leader of Indian nationalism Mahatma Gandhi was one of these figures. Gandhi, who was not a Shia or even a Muslim, regarded Imam Hussein (AS) as his role model in courage and bravery and said the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) was a guide for him.
Former UN secretary general Kofi Annan, also a non-Muslim, once praised Imam Ali (AS) and recommended that six of the Imam’s (AS) letters, especially his letter to Malik Ashtar, that explain the relation between the rulers and people, be circulated as a UN document.
In 2002, the United Nations declared Imam Ali (AS) to be one of the most just rulers humanity has ever seen.
The United Nations advised Arab countries to take Imam Ali (AS) as an example in establishing a government based on justice and democracy and encouraging knowledge.
